How do i connect my bluetooth headphones to my computer?

I have lg HBS-200 and want to connect with a random cheap bluetooth dongle. Is it possible the dongle does not support music? I have a cheap bluetooth dongle and it comes up as connecting, but i cannot connect to listen to music or do anything from the headphones. I am doing it on windows xp.
my bluetooth dongle came with no install pack or directions.

If your computer says it’s getting a connection (assuming the dongle you’re describing is the bluetooth receiver on your laptop) – then you need to select the headphones as your audio device. you can do this in control panel -> sound and audio devices. Change the default audio device to the headphones.
