Even after Apple has released several improved versions of its best selling iPhone, its clones are still selling as well as ever. I think this is because they’ve yet to allow you to go with a low cost carrier of your own choosing. Using the original for everything you want it to do (web browsing, texting, emailing, taking video, pictures, and listening to MP3 / MP4s can be extremely pricy with AT&T.
If you buy a Chinese iPhone on the other hand, you really get the best of both worlds, as not only can you use which ever carrier or network you please, but these phones have dual sim slots (so that you can have two numbers or carriers) and they contain a lot of bonus features, like additional surround sound speakers, FM radio, and e book readers.
The tri band CECT P168 is the best selling iPhone clone / knock off of all time. However, some consumers could not use it because their carrier works on the 850 MZ band, which the P168 lacked. In particular, you need the 850MZ band to use Cingular, and some rural areas of AT&T, to name only a few.
The Best Selling CECT Quad Band: In response, CECT rolled out it’s new and improved version of this phone, which is either called the CECT P168 quad band or the P168+ Plus. This new version was improved and upgraded in a few ways. A slide unlock feature, web cam and e-book reader were added. And, small improvements were made to the camera, MP3/ MP4 player and to the software. The screen on the new version feels a bit more firm as well.
This one is probably the best selling quad band iClone on the market. I think this is because the P168 is such a best seller and the accessories support, user’s manuals and set up guides are readily available.
The Newest CECT Quad Band: The newest quad iPhone clone is called the SciPhone, (aka CECT i68, Java 32, or Y32.)
This one differs a couple of ways from the P168 plus. First, it is a shake and tilt model which means that you can change or advance music, media, photos, video, etc. only by shaking the phone. You don’t need to fumble around or scroll. You can also take video or photos to full, wide screen by tilting the phone.
In addition, the SciPhone is a bit smaller than previous models. For this reason, it is sometimes called the “mini HiPhone.” It’s also a tiny bit faster (not enough to make a difference to most people as all of these phones are zippy, but faster just the same). Perhaps the biggest way the SciPhone is different from other clones is that it has the latest version of Java. This is huge because it offers you so many extra features available for download on your phone, like PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, to name just a few. There are also tons of games for download. The latest Java makes the phone potentially a productivity and gaming power house. There are accessories for this one too, and even more will become available over time.
Price wise, of the two, the SciPhone is a bit more, but you can usually find either for under $150, and come sometimes get the Plus in the low one hundred dollar range.
Both of these are great, high performing phones with high customer satisfaction. Which appeals more to you will depend upon your needs and whether you want the proven, best selling model, or the newest, and fully loaded, version.
